Question: How useful is a dual degree in marketing and psychology?
I am a psychology major right now and am trying to find a more practical application, so adding a marketing degree seems like a good option. When applying for a job (a more marketing-focused job) would having a degree in psychology help set me apart from other applicants who just have marketing degrees? Would a psychology minor be just as useful as the major? I don’t want to waste my time getting the dual degree if it will not make me any more attractive to employers or open up any other job opportunities for me. Any advice?

Answer:

Answer by Ryan
Psychology and Marketing can be a good mix if you mention it on your resume.
Some people might not see a mixture of them in good ways – they may just look at it as a random decision.

If you were to put a reason for why you decided to get a degree in both of them you should put something like:

Psychology and Marketing would be a good mix because that is what Marketing is all about, having the brain react to a product in a positive manner. Which is essentially Psychology.

DON’T USE THAT! lol, that was really bad – but it could be something like that I would say.
I never really thought of this mix (I’m a Marketing major) but it sounds really nice now that I think of it.

Good luck!

Question: I need marketing ideas for a charter school. What are inexpensive ways to advertise & get more kids to enroll
We are a charter school in our second year and want to attract more families on a very tight budget. Any great and inexpensive marketing ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:

Answer by Ron B
In my opinion, its not really “the kids” you want to attract, is it? Of course not. You want to attract “the persons controlling the purse strings”: the parents and guardians of those children. The children won’t have a choice, will they? OR will they? I think you have to win over the parents and guardians AND the children. The Q is “How?”

Your Q is at a pretty advantageous time – maybe. School is JUST getting ready to open for a new year. My Suggestions #1: IF NOT for this year, how about for next semester and/or next year? An “Open House”. AND the entire Board of Directors, faculty and staff should be on-hand to answer any and all Qs from parents and children. The Open House should have some light refreshments – BUT NOT “cheap” or inexpensive refreshments. OR
Suggestion #2: Some of the folks could donate the refreshments, couldn’t they? I’m sure there are some wonderful cooks and bakers on your staff and the parents and guardians of the children attending the school, aren‘t there?

Suggestion #3: You should focus your enrollment campaign on a more affluent area. Honestly, I don’t know how a charter school works or operates, but it seems to me this is the economic level you should start investing your advertising/promotion funding. This level and higher levels.

Suggestion #4: You have to make the investment in time with the Board of Directors, your faculty, staff, current students and the parents and guardians of those students. You NEED ideas to get the magnet to start attracting those folks you‘re interested in attracting and enrolling in your school. What does your charter school do – more of and better than any other nearby school? This is where I think it should begin.

Suggestion #5: You could offer the best suggestion and the runner-ups different fee-paid services for free or at a greatly reduced rate, couldn’t you?

Suggestion #6: I never saw this in any school or college I attended, but I saw it ALL the time in the establishments where I worked: How about comment cards and suggestion boxes placed in strategic locations throughout the school AND [maybe] in businesses throughout the community? You could offer a monthly prize.

Suggestion #7: If you wanted to, you could probably set-up an e-mail address for suggestions only, too, couldn’t you?

Thank you for asking your question. I enjoyed taking the time to answer it. You did a great job – not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading my answer. Thanks to everyone for reading my answer.

I wish you well!

FACEBOOK MARKETING STRATEGIES FREE TRAINING VIDEO HERE: www.facebook.com Ok so you catch about to shave my stubble off, now I’ve had this beard for about four years and my girlfriend Jenny has never seen me without this beard. So you know, she’s on hold of that of the moment with my little boy Jasper, when she comes back she may not like it, she may go “who’s that guy in my house?” So here’s the thing, there’s a reason why I’m making this video today, and I think it’s because sometimes you just need to make a change even though it might be uncomfortable, you might get step into the know — sometimes circumstances that might make a change. I think this is specifically true for entrepreneurs, people in business at the moment because we got a lot of stress in the last couple of years, we got people having — having problems and challenges getting their expertise across. You can see I’m really unprepared for this, I don’t have any shaving firm and I don’t have that long razor, I’m using Jenny’s leg razor she might not be too happy about that. So yeah you know, Charles Darwin said that it’s not the most — it’s not the strongest of species that survives or the most intelligent but the one’s that’s most adaptable to change and I think it’s definitely true at business at the moment. It can be the people who are doing well run now are the one’s that are able to change because there is a revolution going on at the moment, there’s a revolution in the economy and it help people …
